Josefine Hellström and Ena Cosovic’s blossoming artistic pairing has shaped beautifully contradictory, heavy hitting yet emotionally soaring “Saturn Retrograde”. Following their recent debut John Osborne’s DRED imprint, it reiterates their penchant for sincere, dreamy, dance floor music.

The title track sets a reflective tone, bouyant keys and detailed synth work are submerged in broken beats and contemplative textures. Inspired by the change in perspective brought by Saturn Retrograde, where a free state of mind offers the opportunity to face challenges that surface. “Hard and easy with You” delivers fog heavy, strobe lit euphorics, highlighting Jose and Ena’s aptitude for dubby and hypnotic techno. Its surging pads maintain the introspective tone amongst forthright stabs and body moving percussion. Closing the collection is “Unspoken”, surprisingly intimate deep house that blends Ena’s inviting vocals, pulsing leads and a sly acid touch.
